State Tianjin Medical University is the first medical institution in China approved by the State Council of the People’s Republic of China and recognized by the WHO. The TMU campus is an urban-type structure located within the Tianjin province. TMU is located in close proximity to the main traffic intersection, which is very convenient for visiting students.

TMU was established in 1951 by Professor Xianyi Zhu, known as an endocrinologist and medical educator. The institution was called the Medical College and trained only local students. But later, in 1993, after a successful merger with Tianjin’s second most important Medical College, TMU became one of the national key universities included in the 211 projects program. In the same year, the institution was renamed the Tianjin Medical University of the highest category, which made it possible to accept foreign students from all over the world for training.

University composition and infrastructure

TMU has a highly developed infrastructure on a total university area of ​​400,000 m2. There are 13 provincial and ministerial key laboratories on campus, namely: Breast Cancer Prevention and Treatment Laboratory, Hormone and Development Laboratory, Immune Microecology and Disease Laboratory, Injury Change and Nerve Regeneration Laboratory, Tumor Prevention and Treatment Laboratory, Center for Basic Medicine Urology, Center for Cellular and Molecular Immunology, Center for Metastases of Lung Cancer and Tumor Microorganisms, Center for Medical Epigenetics, and Laboratory for Essential Technologies of Clinical Drugs and Oncological Immunity and Biotherapy. There are also 13 independent research institutes. The Clinical Research Base has 7 university hospitals, 15 conventional hospitals and 9 teaching hospitals.

TMU has participated in research projects and received 245 awards, including 5 national awards in science and technology, 10 first prizes and 63 second prizes from the ministerial and Tianjin Science and Technology Prizes.

Admission and tuition fees

Admission to TMU is carried out on a general basis approved by the Ministry of Education of China. Priority is given to the high academic performance of the applicant from the previous place of study. The average cost of training for a Bachelor’s degree is USD 7,500, for a Master’s degree – USD 9,500. Education in the institution takes place in Chinese, therefore, upon admission, it is necessary to provide the admission committee with an HSK certificate with an indicator of at least 4.

Grants

National University TMU provides international students with a high academic record with legislative grants that entitle them to preferential tuition. A successful student can get a discount on undergraduate studies in the amount of 100%, 50% or 20%, depending on the chosen direction and the general subject point.

Dormitory

Tianjin Medical University provides all international students with accommodation on campus in comfortable hostels. The average cost of a double room is 60 RMB per night, and a single room is 80 RMB. To get a place in a hostel, an applicant must submit an application online in advance through the official website of TMU, in which to indicate the chosen faculty and the direction of study.
