South University of Science and Technology SUSTech is a university founded in 2011 in the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone. The university’s mission is to become a globally recognized institution that emphasizes academic excellence and fosters innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship. Teaching at SUSTech is bilingual – English or Mandarin Chinese (Putonghua). Every year SUSTech recruits talented students from all over the world.
University ranking and benefits
In the 2016 Nature Index Rising Stars, SUSTech is ranked 62nd among the world’s top 100 institutions with the most significant growth in high-quality scientific publications. In 2019, SUSTech was ranked 55th in the (The) World University Ranking as the youngest university in the ranking. SUSTech was ranked between 301-350 in the World University Ranking.
The faculty-to-student ratio is currently 1:12, and the emphasis on lab time is placed throughout the curriculum from year one.
More than 90% of the faculty and research staff are repatriates abroad, and more than 60% have education or work experience in the top 100 universities in the world.
University composition and infrastructure
The SUSTech campus, consisting of 32 main buildings, covers an area of 2 square kilometers located in the Nanshan (South Mountain) area of Shenzhen. SUSTech has created all the necessary conditions for comfortable acquisition of knowledge, as well as conducting scientific research in various fields. For students, modern laboratory classes have been created on the practical application of their theoretical skills.
Lynn is the name of the university library, the most innovative library in southern China. The printed collection consists of more than 200,000 copies. There are also 100 databases, including CALIS, Nstl and the Shenzhen Document Network, containing countless electronic teaching aids (books, newspapers and magazines).

China Admissions and SUSTech University Announce $ 1M Scholarship Fund for International Students.
The scholarships include full tuition, accommodation, insurance, residency, medical examination and living expenses of approximately $ 36,000 USD per student.
Studying programs
All SUSTech undergraduate programs have a 2 + 2 academic model. This model consists of fundamental courses and general education. The first and second academic years to strengthen general knowledge, then in the third academic year at SUSTech, students choose a specialty according to their strengths and academic requirements.
Throughout its undergraduate studies, the university creates a platform for students to use and research ongoing research across disciplines and fields. Also, students can participate in frontier research projects with practical research starting in the first year.

Dormitory
Boarding colleges are made up of student residences and ancillary facilities including sports fields and convenience stores. Each boarding college has its own name, culture, traditions, events and informal educational program, as well as tutoring, counseling and hobby clubs.
Newly recruited students can enter any boarding college and make their choice based on the characteristics of each of them.
