About the university

Location: Liaoning, China

Liaoning Medical University was opened in 1946 in Jinzhou City. It is located in Liaoning province, on the seaside. Over the years of its existence, the institute has turned into a multidisciplinary educational institution that trains medical personnel of various levels.

Today, the university is actively developing in the field of international cooperation and invites foreign applicants to undergo training in therapeutic and surgical specialties, including traditional Chinese medicine.

The institute is ranked among the top three medical universities in Liaoning province and the fifty most popular medical universities in China.

On campuses, there are not only dormitories, but also sports facilities, a library, a stadium, cafeterias, shops and other institutions that help make life for students comfortable.

Admission and tuition fees

Foreign citizens who graduated from school are allowed to study. An interview in English is mandatory for them. Applicants must fill out an online registration form (on the institute’s portal) and submit the following documents:

Health certificate.
Certificate of no criminal record.
Language certificate of at least A1 level.
Exam results and academic performance in physics, biology, chemistry and mathematics (depending on the specialty).

Grants

At the moment, the institute is not part of the government program for foreign students in China. In this regard, representatives of other states will not be able to receive a scholarship there. The only financial support option is a one-time payment of RMB 1,000 to RMB 4,000 for excellent academic success, but these funds are not enough to cover the cost of the program or even living expenses.

Studying programs

The university offers foreign applicants a wide range of programs, including short-term ones. Among them:

  • Short language tourist program (excursions are included in the price), duration – 2 weeks.
  • Short term Chinese language learning program.
  • Long-term program of studying the Chinese language, duration – from 1 semester.
  • Short-term specialized programs (specialties: “Acupuncture”, “Massage”, “Tai Chi”, “Chinese Traditional Medicine”,
  • “Chinese Culture”), duration – 1 month.
  • Clinical medicine program, duration – 1 year.
  • MBBS program in English.
  • Bachelor’s degree in English / Chinese, duration 4-5 years.
  • Master in English / Chinese.

Among the undergraduate programs – Nursing, Pharmaceuticals, Clinical Medicine, Dentistry, Radiology. Master’s students can study a wider range of disciplines and areas, for example, gynecology, psychiatry, orthopedics, anesthesiology, etc.

The university includes several separate faculties, including:

  • Clinical medicine.
  • Pharmacology.
  • Dentistry.
  • Nursing.
  • Medicine management.

Separately, it is worth mentioning the department of work with foreign students, which organizes language courses, including preparation for HSK.

Dormitory

International students are required to reside on campus, accommodation outside of it is not allowed. The cost of a room ranges from 3000 to 6000 yuan ($ 475-$ 950) per year, depending on the number of neighbors and the availability of amenities. There are options with a private bathroom or with a toilet and shower on the floor. The big advantage is that utilities are already included in the price of the room.
