About the university

Location: Guangxi, China

(official full name – Guangxi Medical University, in Chinese – 廣西 醫科大學, abbreviated – GXMU or GMU) is located in the Chinese metropolis of Nanning. The institution has passed state accreditation, therefore, it is recognized by the Department of Education of the PRC. Thanks to this, students from other countries can study at GXMU, including in English.

GMU was established in 1934 in Guangxi Province as a provincial medical school for local students. But already in 1949, the institution was re-accredited to the Public University of China. The institution began enrolling foreign students for training only in 1978. Thus, GXMU is considered one of the oldest establishments not only in China, but throughout Asia. It is currently one of the key educational institutions with strong support from the regional government. It is also the center of medical education, research, treatment and prevention, and health care in Nanning and Guangxi.

GXMU University has occupied high positions in China for many years and is among the top 100 educational institutions in the country. In the world ranking, GMU is consistently ranked among 1000 successful universities.

University Composition and Infrastructure

Multidisciplinary University GXMU is considered a medium-sized institution, with no more than 15,000 students from different countries studying. It currently consists of 22 schools, 1 department of education, 10 (in the Chinese three-tier category) associated hospitals, 7 subordinate hospitals, 48 ​​training and internment bases.

The full composition of the institution:

  • 2,500 teachers, of which more than 30% are active specialists in the field of medicine, including surgery;
  • about 15,000 students, of which 10% are foreigners.

GMU is a School of International Education that provides a specialized pathway for international students to study. The GMU campus has a total area of ​​400,000 square meters, which houses training and sports centers, research laboratories, a stadium, a dormitory, and a canteen.

Admission and tuition fees

Admission to GXMU is carried out at the average student’s balls from the previous place of study. For successful enrollment, the student must provide not only a Certificate for 11 grades, but also an HSK certificate with a level of at least 4 points.

Tuition fees at GXMU per year:

  • Bachelor’s degree from 23,000 to 30,000 yuan;
  • Bachelor’s Degree Surgery – RMB 40,000;
  • Master’s degree from 30,000 to 33,000 RMB;
  • registration mandatory fee – RMB 500.

Admission policies and admission rates may vary based on fields of study, degree, student citizenship, place of residence and other criteria. A student who wishes to enter a university must send an Application to the GXMU email address in advance. Then wait for confirmation that the documents have been successfully received and the application is being processed.

Grants

GMU provides successful students with legal grants that entitle them to preferential tuition for 4 years of Bachelor’s degree. Foreign students are awarded grants of 100% and 50%. To use grants, you must apply in advance.

Dormitory

GMU provides all nonresident students with accommodation in a student hostel, which is formed by the type of apartments. All rooms are equipped with the necessary furniture and accessories. The cost of a double room is 5,000 yuan per year, the cost of a triple room is 3,280 yuan per year. For convenience, there are restaurants, cafes, supermarkets and shops on campus.
