Nanjing Medical University NMU is a higher education institution with a glorious history and wonderful traditions. Already in 1941, he became one of the first educational institutions in China to accept graduate students. It was also one of the first medical colleges in China to offer six-year medical medical education, and one of the first to be eligible to award doctoral and master’s degrees in China.

Nanjing Medical University is one of the first universities to offer the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program approved by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China (MOE).

It has an international exchange and collaboration program that sends students abroad to study and work with research institutions and medical schools in the United Kingdom, United States of America, Australia, Germany, Japan and France.

University composition and infrastructure

The university has two campuses, Wutai and Jiangning. The Wutai Campus, located at the southern foot of Wutai Hill in Gulou District, Nanjing, has eight hectares of land and is a center for clinical teaching and research. The Jiangning campus, located in the university city of Jiangning, Nanjing, has eighty-seven hectares of land and is a center for teaching and research. The University has twenty-three schools and twenty-three affiliated hospitals and more than fifty teaching hospitals in Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang and Shandong and other cities. The University Library boasts an extensive collection of resources – over 1,070,000 printed medical resources, 1,500,000 electronic resources, and 6,000 journals in various languages. NMU publishes 11 scientific journals. NMU has over 1400 registered teaching staff, including 117 full-time professors and 175 associate professors.

Admission and tuition fees

Short Term Chinese Study Program 5000 RMB per month

One-year Chinese language program 15,000 yuan per academic year

Undergraduate programs – 34,000 yuan per academic year

Master’s degree – 50,000 yuan per academic year

Doctorate degree 55,000 yuan per academic year

For foreign students, the university provides discounts on tuition fees from 5% to 90%. And also presented British Council China Scholarship and the Chinese Government Scholarship 100% covering tuition and living expenses.

Studying programs

The university has 17 undergraduate programs, 2 six-year dual bachelor’s programs, and 5 seven-year programs. It currently has over 13,000 students. The university has formed a comprehensive and multi-level educational system, covering bachelor’s and master’s programs, as well as postgraduate studies, for full-time students, adults and foreign students. In 2002, the university resumed admitting international students and students from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan and currently has over 500 such students.

Dormitory

Students can live on campus, but they can also rent off-campus rooms. All apartments are equipped with air conditioning, water heater, telephone, water dispenser, single bed, wardrobe, desk and network interface. Each bedroom accommodates two students, and the living room and bathroom are shared by all 6 flatmates. The cost is RMB 25 per day.
