Beijing Union University is a public institution under the supervision of the Chinese Ministry of Education. It has been operating for over thirty years and continues to be one of the most dynamically developing educational institutions in the PRC.

Every year, a huge number of applicants enter the university. A record figure for the country – 8700 people – was achieved by this very university. At the same time, there are always many foreign students among the applicants, who are attracted by the high level of local education and the liberal approach to teaching.

University ranking and benefits

The university is ranked among the top 100 vocational education institutions in the country. Only highly qualified specialists work here, most of whom have an academic degree and regularly participate in international seminars, conferences, etc. Students are also given the opportunity to conduct their own research on the basis of a specialized Scientific Center.

The university is actively engaged in exchange activities, in connection with which all representatives of the international faculty get a unique chance to communicate not only with Chinese peers, but also with young people from many other countries.

The university participates in job fairs and helps its graduates find internships and work in the largest local companies.

Composition and infrastructure

The university has several campuses, where training in various disciplines is carried out. There are separate departments related to teaching Chinese as a foreign language. The teaching staff has all the necessary state certificates and licenses to work with foreign students.

Students are offered various forms of activity that allow them to fully express themselves and demonstrate all their talents. These are, for example, a local symphony orchestra, a dance studio, an ensemble of Chinese folk instruments. Much attention is paid to sports education: the university has a separate hall, open fields for basketball and other street sports, exercise equipment. Various volunteer and social events are regularly organized.

Also, all students can use the local library and reading room, where there are, among other things, electronic sources of information.

Admission and tuition fees

To start the paperwork procedure, applicants need to provide the following documents:

  • A standard form (fully completed by the applicant).
  • Copy of the passport.
  • A copy of the university diploma with translation (upon admission to one of the language programs).
  • Guardian documents (letter of guarantee + copy of passport).

In addition, all applicants must pay the registration fee and provide a copy of the corresponding receipt.

Another prerequisite for admission to classes is the availability of health insurance, which costs 300 yuan (approximately $ 52) for 3 months and 600 yuan (approximately $ 104) for the entire academic year.

Grants

The university offers several scholarship options for international students. Those who wish to study for a bachelor’s or master’s degree can apply for a grant from the Beijing Municipality, which ranges from 500 to 10,000 yuan per month, depending on the level of academic achievement.

Students in language and other short-term programs are also awarded 100 scholarships of RMB 500 for regular attendance. Two grants of 3,000 and 5,000 yuan are awarded to the second and first highest performing student in the group.

Studying programs

Most of the specialties intended for foreign students are related to the humanities and the study of national culture and the Chinese language. Applicants from Kazakhstan can apply for the following study programs:

  • Intensive Chinese course.
  • Normal Chinese course.
  • Bachelor in Tourism.
  • Bachelor in Pedagogy.
  • Bachelor in Economics and Trade.

Some of the programs are also available to underage applicants.

Faculties

The university offers applicants a choice of about a hundred specialties. All of them belong to certain areas, among which are:

  • economy and business;
  • tourism;
  • special education;
  • Information Technology;
  • engineering.

This list can be continued for a long time. It is important that after studying the Chinese language and passing the exam with the receipt of the corresponding certificate, foreign students can receive education on the basis of one of the faculties according to the programs described above.

Dormitory

International students are provided with rooms in two separate buildings on campus. In total, these buildings are equipped with 107 rooms, each of which is equipped with its own air conditioning, TV, telephone and private bathroom. A washing machine and a shared kitchen are located on the floors for convenience. Also, all students can access Wi-Fi.

The cost of living is from 35 to 80 yuan (i.e. from $ 6 to $ 14). The cheapest will be accommodation in a double room with a shared bathroom, the most expensive – a single room with a private bathroom.

There is also a dining room on the campus, which can be used by students of the international faculty. The approximate cost of food will be about 20 RMB (approximately $ 3.5) per day. There is also a store right next to the university where those who wish can buy everything they need.
